Meg Stalter Is Too Much (Thank God)
With looks that are equal parts hilarious and stylish, Meg proves excess is an art form.
Megan “Meg” Stalter - self-declared Prettiest Girl in America - is the chaotic, camp breath of fresh air we didn’t know pop culture needed. She lives up to the name of the series she stars in, Too Much - and thank God for it. With looks that blur the line between fashion, comedy, and performance art, Meg has cemented herself as one of the most exciting style icons of the moment.
At the VMAs, she wore a monochrome white, vintage diner-inspired outfit featuring corsetry, white Mary Janes and socks, 3-inch (at least) long nails, and, to top it all off, a bedazzled Dunkin' Donuts cup. If that isn’t camp, I don’t know what is.
This wasn’t a one-off. Meg has built a reputation on outfits that turn heads:
At the Las Culturistas Culture Awards, she wore a strapless bodice made of Diet Coke boxes, a pin-striped mini skirt, and yes, an actual Diet Coke in hand.
For the Critics Choice LGBTQ+ Celebration, she appeared in a Di Petsa dress with a sash reading Best Gay Actor. Iconic.
On Colbert, she wore a tank/corset emblazoned with her own face and the statement, Meg Stalter prettiest girl in America.
And on the Today Show, she showed up half-ready: robe on, towel in hair, rollers intact.
Nearly every look includes an outrageous wig, a drink prop, or a wink at her persona. She knows how to make fashion not just wearable, but theatrical.
And on a more serious, non-comical note, she wore jeans, a white t-shirt, and a purse with tape and permanent marker stating “Cease Fire!” Another example of performance art by Meg Stalter.
At first glance, Meg might seem like a walking joke. But look closer: her style is pure creativity, her humor perfectly dry. In a culture obsessed with palatability, she chooses to be excessive. She embodies the quirky, the unconventional, and the fabulously “too much.”
As she said about herself at the VMAs: “She’s not for everyone, but the people that like her, really like her.” Put my name on that list. Because Meg isn’t just the prettiest girl in America - she’s the most fun one, too.
